to live is the rarest thing in the world
To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist. Oscar Wilde
What does this quote mean to you? What comes to mind when you read it?
Most people just exist. We all just exist to some extent. We have jobs to go to, chores to complete and perhaps other people in our life that need our attention and help daily.
To live is the rarest thing in the world. What does living mean? To me, this means enjoying life. Living each day full of love, joy, happiness. It’s holidays and adventures, it’s being silly with my children and dancing in the kitchen whilst cooking. It’s laughing with friends and walking around the stunning area that I live. Living can be small, or living can be large. Living can be safe, or living can be frightening. What it means to each of us is individual. I don’t think skydiving would fill me with life and enjoyment, but perhaps it would (if I got over my initial fear of even contemplating it!).
I have a daily journal that I have created for myself and part of that has a section for fun, and adventure for the day. Perhaps I should relabel it as ‘What did I do to truly live today!’.
Today it’s been raining a lot and again we are stuck inside. We have had great fun though and we are currently bringing the solar system to life in the kitchen with paint, and balls and the project may take a few days but I feel like I lived today. Memories have been created and fun had and laughter and smiles filled the house.
If you keep a journal then why not ask yourself each day. What did I do to live today? What fun, joy, and adventure was in my life?
