Life Work Balance or Life Balance

Clients often ask me, “How do I improve my life/work balance?” However, is that the right question? While I usually respond to this inquiry, I find myself questioning its validity. Should we instead be focusing on how to enhance our overall life balance?

Improve Your Life Balance

Through Health and Self-Awareness

Finding the sweet spot of life balance requires a lovely dance between health and self-awareness. It’s not just about what you eat or how much you move; it’s a celebration of tuning into your body, mind, and spirit.

1. Embrace Mindful Eating

Let’s make our meals an exploration! Enjoy the colours, textures, and flavours that fuel your body. As a holistic health coach, I encourage you to listen to your body’s signals. When you eat, ask yourself: how does this make me feel? Foods that align with your autoimmune health and elevate your energy and mood!

2. Tune Into Your Energy Levels

It’s essential to acknowledge your energy fluctuations throughout the day. When you’re feeling spunky, tackle those big projects! On days you feel low, honour that energy and shift your focus to gentle activities—like colouring or writing in your journal. Self-awareness helps you harmonize your tasks with your natural rhythm.

3. Incorporate Joyful Movement

Movement doesn’t have to mean intense workouts! Dance in your living room, go for a leisurely walk, or explore a new hobby. Any form of activity can lift your spirits and elevate your overall well-being. Listen to what your body craves; sometimes, a little jiggle is all it needs!

4. Cultivate Mindfulness Practices

Make space in your life for mindfulness. Create a cozy corner in your home with art and books that inspire you. Meditation, journaling, or just some deep breathing can help you reconnect with yourself. A few moments of stillness each day can reveal insights to keep you balanced.

5. Engage With Your Community

Surround yourself with uplifting souls who support your wellness journey. Join online groups, visit local health workshops, or engage in art therapy sessions where creativity flows and friendships blossom. Building connections helps reinforce your self-awareness and supports your lifestyle choices.

6. Celebrate Your Progress

Every step counts, so celebrate those little wins! Whether it’s trying a new gluten-free recipe or spending time on a self-care practice, acknowledge how far you’ve come. Journaling your journey can be a fantastic way to reflect and recognize your growth.

Balancing health and self-awareness is a delightful adventure that promotes joy and vitality in your life! Let’s embark on this whimsical journey together—your pathway to harmony and flourishing awaits!

Emma Alexander-Cook

My name's Emma. I've been living gluten-free for over 25 years, and I've been dairy-free for over five years.

Health and Auto-immune Diseases

I have auto-immune diseases and expected to be on medicine for the rest of my life, but I didn't want to live like that. My rheumatology Doctor was so supportive of the change I wanted to make, and with their help, I now manage my auto-immune diseases by being strict with my diet.

It can be quite frightening when you first find out you have to change the way you eat but for some of us' Food is our medicine.'

I have several websites, write blogs, and I'm currently in the process of writing a book.

I trained to be Holistic Health Coach, Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher and Certified Gluten Free Practitioner in order to heal myself, my family and others who find themselves on the same journey as myself.

Photography

Our love for photography started on our travels. We wanted to capture images of the areas we travelled to both for our own records and for our family back at home. Some of these images were reproduced as watercolours. Our favourite images we display at home and friends often asked where we had purchased the pictures! Now you can purchase them online directly from us.

Coaching and Consultancy

Previously an IT Manager my skill set has come in very handy as I am both a Health Coach and also offer consultancy for small business starts up and fellow Health Coaches. This has included building websites and online profiles.

Our Family

Family is everything to me! We have a family of four boys where the age difference between the youngest and the eldest is 18 years. Two of our sons are also Gluten Free and Dairy Free. Emma is a Health Coach who specialises in helping individuals and families achieve their health and wellness goals. Ian runs his own business which began developing a Race Timer for diecast model cars.
